Aftercare and Memorialisation

Aftercare Services

We work with the company Pet Friends for all of our cremation services. We deal with them almost exclusively because we know them, we have visited their facilities, and we trust them implicitly to treat all of our patients with dignity and respect. We can take care of everything for you and can transport your pet to the crematorium (price included in the home visit fee), or we can arrange for the crematorium to pick up directly from your home for an additional fee (payable directly to the crematorium). You can collect your pet’s ashes from the crematorium directly, or we can arrange delivery by the crematorium or by us for an extra fee depending on your location.

They offer TWO main OPTIONS for cremation services.

COMMUNAL or GROUP CREMATION

Pets are cremated with one or more other pets. Because more than one pet is involved in ASHES.

ARE NOT RETURNED

The cost for this service is variable depending on the weight of your pet.

PRIVATE CREMATION

Pets are cremated individually, and their ASHES ARE RETURNED to their families in the choice of a velvet pouch with a medallion engraved with their name or a wooden box urn with a plaque engraved with their name.

It is possible to be present and witness the cremation (- by appointment with the crematorium only and incurs additional fees)

The cost for this service is variable depending on the weight of your pet and your choice of urn/vessel.

The CREMATORIUM also offers the SAFE KEEPING of your pet until such times as you are able to make a final decision on your wishes for aftercare or until weather conditions allow for burial at an appropriate site. (Please note it is illegal to bury on the Island of Montréal and in many surrounding areas- please check with your municipality) prices and details available on request.

There are pet cemeteries also – one in Ottawa and one in Beauharnois, to which we can facilitate transport.

There are other aftercare facilities that we may refer you to depending on your location and circumstances or any special requests in order to best suit your needs, and they carry many more memorialisation options also- more details available on request.

Memorialisation

Our fee includes ONE free air dry clay paw print and ONE ink nose print (Additional clay paw or ink paw or nose prints available at additional cost).

We can clip some of your pet’s fur for you to keep.
